What a busy month for EUCPSC!
This blog post has been held back in order to wait until the dust had settled from the Edinburgh Bisley Cup. And what a roaring success it was! There was a fantastic turnout from York, Aberdeen, St Andrews, Lancaster, Manchester and Newcastle universities, who also made so many kind comments made about the outstanding quality of the sport at Bisley.

We were also absolutely delighted to raise £1000 for Macmillan, Cancer Support with our raffle at our ensuing supper on the Mound. I'm sure you'll agree that this is an astonishing figure for what is perhaps a more niche university sporting club. The sheer generosity of so many businesses that kindly provided the prizes for this was truly humbling; our hearts go out to them all. Special mention goes to: Dubarry of Ireland, Barbour, Croots of England, the Drinks Business, Dickson McNaughton, Bisley Shooting, Gamefish of Edinburgh and Featherings Jewellery. We couldn't have done it without you all.

The Competition:
We had ideal weather conditions for the competition, and greatly enjoyed sharing the delights of Bisley at Braidwood with our guests. The Edinburgh teams performed admirably, with numerous accolades going to individual guns. However, it was Newcastle University that offered the most accomplished performance, pipping all to the post for the Edinburgh Bisley Trophy itself. We offer them our congratulations, and look forward to challenging their title next year!
There were some extraordinary shots present from all universities on the day; I myself was amazed while scoring to watch so many make a clean sweep of the dreaded simulated grouse stand 17, on which I had missed every single clay earlier in the day!

We were most fortunate in that the weather conditions were ideal: calm, sunny but somewhat frosty underfoot. It was wonderful to have Alex Roupell and Fergus Collins taking so many superb photographs on the day too. They can be found below.

All told, the inaugural Edinburgh Bisley competition cannot be judged to be anything other than a roaring success, thanks to supreme effort from the committee: particularly from Jess Watson and Alice Lowry. Equally the efforts of all at Bisley Shooting Ground to make the day run so smoothly were phenomenal and admirable. I'm sure I speak for the club when I say that we can't wait to return in 2016!
