End of Year Newsletter

The year has come to an end, and what a year it was for EUCPSC. The club continues to go from strength to strength, larger than ever with 65 members and great success at competitions. We've shot (and danced) our way across the universities of the North and had a great time doing it.

Our very own Edinburgh Bisley Cup is now a top fixture in the university shooting circuit, so popular it was oversubscribed, with more than 140 shooters from across the country attending and joining us at the National Gallery for a dinner - the raffle raising an astonishing £921 for Macmillan Cancer Support, a great feat for a relatively small club like us. Our attendance at other competitions has been strong, with teams sent to Aberdeen, St. Andrews, Durham, Newcastle and all the way down to BUCS. We've consistently performed in competition and have done the university proud this year as ever.

A huge amount of thanks to this year's committee, especially our President (Cam Collins), Secretary (Alexander Campbell) and Treasurer (Giles Hodgson) - organising the club's day to day activities alone is a daunting task, and coupled with our regular away trips they have deftly overcome the challenges presented them, supported by the many other members of the committee, and the club has run fantastically smoothly.

We must also thank Cluny Clays and Bisley at Braidwood for their constant support of the Club and providing the use of their grounds - we could not ask for better training grounds so close to Edinburgh and so supportive of the Club.

A further thank you to our many sponsors for the Charity Raffle:

Bisley at Braidwood Land Securities Croots England Cigar Box Edinburgh Gamefish A Hume Country Clothing Camera Obsscura Royal Mile Whiskies Bill Barber Designer Knitwear The Isle of Skye Candle Company Fur, Feather and Fin Great Grog Bottleshop

Your kind donations to our competition allowed us to raise £921 pounds for charity and provide some truly fantastic prizes for our guests!

The next item is to welcome our new 2016/17 committee, with some old and new faces taking up their roles and continuing to make the Club the best it can be:

President - Giles Hodgson

Vice President & Events Organiser - Alexander Campbell

Secretary - Ali Bath

Treasurer - Bobi Sarah Archer

Social Secretaries - Rebecca Drummond & Joshua Mullock

Alumni Officer - Rheanna Filmer

Publicity Officer - Amelia Wollaston

Equipment & Safety Officer - Ben Boyes

And finally, to any prospective members who are reading this and wondering if the club is for you, we can only encourage you to come along to one of our training sessions and see for yourself how enjoyable shooting and being part of EUCPSC can really be. Whether you have never seen a shotgun or you've been shooting since before you could walk, there is always a place for you in the club, and we look forward to seeing you in the new academic year.

Roll on September!
